general
guide to writing Letter of Sympathy:
1. Don't postpone writing the Letter of Sympathy. write
it now. the sooner you send the letter, the better.
2. You can either handwrite the Letter of Sympathy,
type it on your computer and print it, or send it by
email. We prefer the former, but this really depends
on your generation and your relationship with the grieving
person.
3. Be yourself. A Letter of Sympathy written in your
own voice and which is not over dramatic will sound
more sincere.
4. Be brief. When in grief, one generally doesn't fell
like reading long letters. show you care, maybe offer
your assistance - that's enough.
5. Be personal. Share your sadness, be sure to mention
the loved one's name and if possible add a nice memory
you have of the deceased or an example of how he touched
your life.
6. Be empathetic. Well, that's the whole purpose of
a sympathy letter.
